The Inter-Generational Fund was founded in honor of Suzanne Saunders Donlon, a loving mother and grandmother, who dedicated herself to nurturing bonds of affection and gratitude across generations.
The IGF’s mission is designed to help active participants who have come through Soil Centric’s programs access skill-building opportunities in regeneration and ecosystem restoration, allowing them to grow and communities to flourish.
IGF 2024 Update
Soil Centric has distributed its second round of funds to support four trainees to participate in the "Grazing for Resilience" immersive camp. Organized by the Grazing School of the West together with The New Cowgirl Camp, the training helps the next generation of graziers and land stewards gain the animal husbandry, ecology, and prescribed grazing skills they need to be successful. This year's training took place in October 2024 at True Grass Farms on the coast in Tomales, California.
IGF 2023
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this special initiative. We are grateful to see this idea come to fruition and delighted to announce that the first round of funds have been distributed. The Intergenerational Fund provided direct support to the first intensive “Shepherd’s Bootcamp” which took place in Ojai, California in October. Shepherdess Land & Livestock used the IGF funds to help ease the financial burden for four participants.
Shepherd’s Bootcamp meets all of our criteria for the IGF: It is being run by trusted colleagues at Shepherdess Land & Livestock in collaboration with the Grazing School of the West. By working with sheep and goats, Bootcamp participants gain sought-after skills that are critical in protecting environments from catastrophic wildfires, sequestering carbon, and enhancing biodiversity.
